Stewardship In The Church

A steward is a committed member of the parish—a caretaker of the Church and their faith. Stewards strive to live out the Orthodox Christian life by following the teachings of the Church, attending the Divine Liturgy on Sundays and Holy Days, or as often as possible, receiving the Sacraments regularly, and supporting the Church with their time, talents, and financial gifts.

Stewardship is how we care for our Church together. Our parish depends on the support of its stewards. Some offer financial help, others contribute their skills and time—such as assisting with repairs or parish upkeep—and many offer both. Every contribution is important and deeply appreciated.

How is the Church Supported?

St. Nectarios Parish is entirely self-supporting. We receive no financial assistance from our Diocese or from the government—not even during 2020. Our entire operating budget depends on the generosity of our community through tithes, weekly offerings, donations, coffee hour contributions, candle offerings, and parish fundraisers. Every act of giving—whether through service, skill, or financial support—helps sustain and grow our parish life.

Contributing To the Parish:

Parishioners and friends of St. Nectarios Church are warmly invited to support the life and ministry of our parish through weekly or monthly offerings. Contributions may be made in several convenient ways:

  • In person: Place your offering in the basket during services.

  • By mail: Send donations to: St. Nectarios Church, 405 Marcum Road, Lakeland, FL 33809

  • Online: Donations can be made via PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. Most services charge no fee, and many banks allow you to set up recurring monthly gifts.
